Arash Missiles: Exposing Iran’s Role in Supporting the Polisario Front

Amid the turmoil of international relations, Morocco finds itself once again facing a hostile alliance formed by Algeria, the Polisario Front, and Iran. Accusations of military support, geopolitical interference, and failed dialogue initiatives persist, while Rabat maintains its firm stance, prioritizing the defense of its sovereignty and regional stability.

Recent revelations regarding the Polisario Front's possession of Iranian-made Arash Standard missiles, with a range of 250 kilometers, represent a serious escalation in the arming of the separatist movement. These weapons, reportedly funneled into the region through dubious channels involving Hezbollah and Algeria, provide concrete evidence of Iran's military support for the Polisario Front.

This discovery reinforces Morocco’s concerns, which were previously raised in 2018 when Rabat severed diplomatic ties with Tehran over similar accusations. At that time, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita presented solid evidence of weapons transfers facilitated by Algeria. Today, these new findings bolster Morocco's claims, placing Iran and its regional allies under renewed scrutiny for their clear complicity.

Algeria plays a pivotal role in this crisis, allegedly serving as a central conduit for transferring Iranian weapons to Polisario camps in Tindouf. Rabat condemns Algeria's overtly hostile policies, which fuel regional instability and exacerbate the conflict over Morocco's Sahara.

While Morocco advocates for a political solution under the auspices of the United Nations, Algeria insists on its support for the Polisario Front and refuses direct participation in negotiations. This stance, combined with its alignment with powers such as Iran, underscores Algeria's diplomatic isolation and its role as a destabilizing force in the region.
